The official title of the College is: The Master, Fellows, and Scholars of Downing College in the University of Cambridge (Registered Charity, Number 1137455)

In practice, however, any clear reference to Downing College, Cambridge will suffice.

Suggested Wording for your Legacy

Suggested wording for your legacy is as follows:

I give to The Master, Fellows, and Scholars of Downing College in the University of Cambridge (Registered Charity, Number 1137455) [the residue], [x% of the residue of my estate] or [the sum of £x]  free of duty for the general purposes of the College and declare that the receipt of the Bursar for the time being of the said College shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.

Should you wish to make a change to an existing will, your solicitor can advise you on amending the wording or using a codicil.
