Brammer Geographical Society's Annual Dinner

Saturday 22 February 2025; The West Lodge & Maitland Room

The President of the Brammer Geographical Society invites you to its Annual Dinner on Saturday 22 February. The Brammer Geography Society is named after Hugh Brammer, a Downing alumnus best known for his work on agro-ecology in Bangladesh who very sadly passed away in 2021, aged 95.

Alumni and guests are welcome to attend an optional short talk and Q&A session, from 18:00-18:45 in the Tim Cadbury Music Room, before drinks and dinner. This will be given by Liam Saddington from the Geography Department on "The Role of Small Island Developing States in Constructing a Climate-Ocean Governance Nexus: Threats, Opportunities and Responsibilities". Please note, there is no disabled access to the Music Room.

Following the talk there will be a drinks reception, at 19:00, followed by dinner at 19.30. Drinks and dinner will take place in the West Lodge & Maitland Room. The Master will attend.

The dress code for the evening will be Black Tie, and guests are welcome. The wearing of gowns is encouraged (arrangements can be made to borrow a gown for the evening, if you don't have one).

The price of the dinner will be £49.95 per head including wine and you may bring a guest. If you would like to purchase an alcohol-free place, these are priced at £39.95 per head.

To book your place for this event, please fill out this booking form: https://forms.gle/sXzQWMNkC51dUgZV6

Please make your payment for the dinner via bank transfer to the Downing College bank account by 13:00 on Friday 7 February. Regrettably, failure to complete a bank transfer by this date will result in the cancellation of your booking.

The bank account details are as follows:

Sort code                    20-17-68
Account number          60527823

Please use your first initial and surname + <Society name> as the reference, e.g. "J Bloggs Brammer".

If you would like to support students’ attendance at the dinner, please consider doing so by adding a donation to your bank transfer. Any surplus from the alumni ticket sales will be deducted from the amount charged to students. Any support will be very gratefully received!

Each year the dinner provides a thoroughly entertaining night, giving the opportunity to catch-up with one another and meet new Society members.

We hope to see you in February. For further information, please contact the Social Secretary by email.

Booking for this event closes at 13:00 on Friday 7 February.
