Hall Restoration Project
Through the amazing generosity of our alumni we raised £1.2m for this important project and have now completed the restoration. To appreciate the true scale of the transformation you really have to see it in person but you can click on the photos above (copyright Ioana Marinescu) to get an idea.
The Hall Restoration Project enabled much needed repair and refurbishment work to be carried out whilst offering an opportunity to restore the interior to a design and colour scheme inspired by William Wilkins, the College's first architect, whose neo-classical style is a unique feature of the College.
A new acoustic ceiling and a heated floor have been fitted as well as new lighting and an integrated audio system.
756 alumni gave to this project and donors named all 238 tiles, 144 new dining chairs, and several tables in the Hall. Our main benefactors are also named in the foyer of A Stair at the entrance to the Hall where their names are listed on a painted board and a stone plinth for the bust of William Wilkins.
We are truly grateful to everyone who made this magnificent achievement a reality.
