Howard Theatre Handover
On 4 December, 2009 the key to the Howard Theatre was officially handed over to the College. It was accepted by the Vice-Master, Professor Richard Smith.

Her Majesty The Queen Visits Cambridge to Celebrate 800th Anniversary
Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh,
Chancellor of the University, visited Cambridge on 19 November as part
of the 800th Anniversary celebrations.
Downing Master, Professor Barry Everitt, along with Katie Marshall (JCR President) and Brett Kennedy (MCR President) were among the lucky few who had the opportunity to meet Her Majesty.
Howard Theatre Progress
Work on the new, environmentally sustainable Howard Theatre is nearing
completion. As you'll see from our image gallery, workers are putting
finishing touches on the splendid interior.
Downing Launches Catalysis
Downing has launched Catalysis, a comprehensive fundraising campaign
with a goal to raise £20m for the College's endowment by the end of
2015. The Master, Professor Barry Everitt, officially announced
Catalysis on Monday, 2 November at the RAF Club, Piccadilly, before an
audience of over 200 Downing members.

Downing Teams are Blazing a Trail of Victory
Downing teams are excelling on the river and the field. DCBC's Men's and Women's Firsts both won university medals in the final of the University Fours. Congratulations!

Quentin Blake Unveils An Informal Panorma
Downing alumnus Quentin Blake (1953) unveiled 'An Informal Panorama' at
Addenbrokes Hospital on 28 September as part of the University of
Cambridge's 800th Anniversary celebrations. The event was attended by
Downing Master, Prof Barry Everitt and University Vice-Chancellor,
Alison Richard.
