The Heong Gallery: The next five years

The Heong Gallery is unique in Cambridge – a purpose-built exhibition space within a Cambridge college that brings modern and contemporary art to the city and generates research and public arts engagement. It has hosted nearly 40,000 visitors in the last 18 months and forged ties with artists, academics, schools and colleges, as well as welcoming alumni. For Downing’s own students, the Gallery has become a place of work that encourages artistic expression, as well as an interface between university life and the vibrant city around it.

While the Gallery has support in place until January 2019, it now needs your help to continue its mission

We’re seeking support from key funders who care about College and art. With a donation of between £5,000 and £10,000 per annum for five years (January 2019 to January 2024), you can be a part of the Gallery’s future as a 1717 Patron. Your contribution will be the critical bridge between our Cambridge Council mandated operational period and such time as fundraising for an endowment for the Gallery generates income. Your support will enable The Heong Gallery to continue at the leading edge of arts provision in Cambridge and the South East and also to evolve into a permanent destination on the cultural map of the region.

Become a 1717 patron and help celebrate 300 Years of Giving

On 20 December 2017, Downing celebrated 300 Years of Giving as the College marked the 300th anniversary of the signing of the will which led to its foundation. As a 1717 Patron, you will not only be supporting the Gallery, but also acknowledging this significant milestone. 1717 patrons will be recognised on a Donor Board within the Gallery, receive invitations to all exhibition openings and other events, and feature in all catalogues, promotional materials, and other reports.
