Research and Discovery

Fellows, who are the leaders in their fields, form a community of teachers and researchers at Downing. The latest research is transmitted directly to undergraduates through supervisions and this motivates and inspires students to follow their own intellectual development. By interacting in the Senior Combination Room, working together on College committees and holding a College office, such as Tutor, Fellows form a strong bond and create a forum for the exchange of ideas, across disciplines. The College supports Fellows by providing a study, meals, some funding support and sometimes accommodation. Downing also directly employs and fully funds Research Fellowships designed to help young researchers develop their careers.

You can help us by contributing to the support costs of a Fellowship or to the Catalysis Research Fund, which will provide seed funding to Fellows, postgraduates and undergraduates for new areas of research.
